spread further and further our need for more people to become part of the TLC family

   VOLUNTEER  OPPORTUNITIES
The Lord's Closet is a local, nonprofit, nondenominational ministry dedicated
to meeting the physical & spiritual needs of
the economically disadvantaged & invisible working poor since 1989.

ACCOUNTANT (CPA):
We need an accountant who is a CPA who knows non-profit law and can make sure that TLC is
always up to date with all the new requirements and laws governing a 501(c)(3).  Someone who will
prepare an annual statement and make sure that our accounting practices are in compliance.



ADMINISTRATIVE  BOARD:
We need Administrative Board members who will be responsible for different departments or
segments of the ministry.  People with administrative skills to oversee and assist their volunteers.  
People who  want to help TLC excel to the next level.


ADVERTISING:
We need someone to promote TLC and let the community know how TLC is helping those in need.  
Find different methods of advertising and make presentations to the Board about their ideas.


AGENCY  NETWORKING:
We need someone to meet with other agencie New Jersey to see how all of us working
together can be more effective and efficient in helping those in need.  Someday we hope to be able to
utilize our database system (which needs to be upgraded to the inter_net) to hook up all the agencies
together, so we can eliminate the abuse and be able to help more people.


APPLIANCE  TESTING:
We need someone who is familiar with all types of major appliances.  Who knows how to hook them
up and test all their functions.  Someone who could do minor repairs.


CLEANING:
We need several people who can help keep the facility clean both inside and outside.  This can be
done during the week and almost any time.


CANISTER  ROUTES:
We need someone to pick up and deliver canisters to local businesses in Hunterdon and Somerset
Counties.  Someone who has a car, knows the area and can follow directions to those locations.  This
job can be done any day of the week during regular business hours.  There are currently 6 routes and
they need to be done once every six weeks.  Each route takes about 1 1/2 hours.  


COMPUTER  TESTING:
We need someone who is familiar with all types of computer equipment.  Someone who can test and
create working systems from the various equipment that is donated.


COUNSELING:
We need several people to provide Biblical counseling to families who come to TLC.  They come with
a multitude of problems.  Many lives could be changed if we could provide this valuable service.    


DATA  BASE  PROGRAMMER:
We need someone who would take our antiquated data base system (Dbase4) which is running on
DOS and update it on Windows based data base program.  Dbase Pro would be our program of choice.  
Our data base system is made up of 115 programs and 87 data storage files.  


DATA  ENTRY:
We need someone to call businesses, churches, schools and foundations so we can update our data
bases  with current information.  


ELECTRONIC  TESTING:
We need someone who is familiar with all types of electronic equipment, such as TV's, stereos, vcrs,
CDs, video, DVDs etc.  Who knows how to hook them up and test all their functions.   


Email  SPECIALIST:
We need someone to integrate our Email list from our data base to an Email list for the inter_net.
Someone to work with volunteers who are doing news releases and advertising to send out Email's to
our friends and let them know what our needs are.  We do not want to bombard them with mail like
other organizations do, we want to make TLC more visible to those who are familiar with us and want
to help us meet the needs of others.


EVENT  PLANNERS:
We need someone who can plan events that will make the community aware of TLC.  Events that  
will raise funds for TLC such as a walk-a-thon or golf tournament.  


EXECUTIVE  BOARD:
We need Executive Board Members who will be responsible for the financial integrity and stability
of the ministry.  Who are willing to diligently seek financial resources.  Who will be actively be
involved in administrative decisions as well as the general operations.  Who will always be looking for
new networking opportunities with other organizations.  Who will pray for TLC and make sure that
all is well.


FUND  RAISERS:
We need someone who will organize fund raisers within the communities we serve.  This might
include bake sales, car washes, work for cash, etc.  Whatever ideas you might have to raise funds.


FURNITURE  MOVERS:
We need several strong guys to help us pick up furniture and appliances from homes and help load
trucks.


GRANT  WRITERS:
We need someone who can find funding sources and then prepare the necessary paperwork to be able
to receive those grants.


INTERNET  INTEGRATION:
We need someone who can work with a programmer to integrate the data base with the inter_net so
other agencies can join with us in giving the most assistance to a family in need as possible.  This
could be the same person as the data base programmer.


LEGAL  COUNSEL:
We need an attorney who knows non-profit law and can keep us up to speed with new laws and make
sure that we are 100% in compliance.


MINISTRY:
We need people who have a calling on their lives to share God's word and love with:

      people who have never heard the gospel before.
      people who have no idea if they are really going to heaven when they die.
      people who have never heard of the "Book of Life".
      people who don't attend church because something happened.
      people who don't know what it really means to be "Born Again".


NEWS  RELEASES:
We need someone to prepare news releases, Email them to the publishers.  Someone who will keep
track of dates that needs have to be met.  Someone who will work with the director and the Board to
let the community know our needs.


OFFICE  WORK:
General office work including filing, computer, answering phones, etc.


PACKING  TRAILERS:
We need someone who knows how to pack a trailer so the furniture won't get damaged going down
the road.  If you work for a moving company and can help on Saturday's would be wonderful.


PHONE:
Making phone calls to individuals or companies seeking donations of goods.


SOCIAL  WORKERS:
People to work with clients to help them in their time of need.  


TRUCK  DRIVERS:
We need people that can drive a 16' box truck on Saturdays.  Who can manage a crew of 3 helpers.  
Who knows their way around Central New Jersey.  Who can pack furniture so it won't get damaged.  
You must have a clean driving record.  Someone who will keep the truck clean on the inside.


VEHICLE  MAINTENANCE:
We need someone who can do minor maintenance on our trucks.  Who can keep maintenance
records on all our vehicles and keep track of when inspections are needed, registration renewals, oil
changes and tires.  Who can check and fill all fluids as needed.  Who can organize people to wash the
trucks as needed.


WAREHOUSE:
We need someone to manage the warehouse areas.  Who can organize areas, keep items rotating.  
Who can work with other volunteers to complete all these tasks.


WAREHOUSE  MAINTENANCE:
We need someone who can do general repairs around the warehouse.


VOLUNTEER  LUNCH  (Sat.):
We need someone to plan, shop and prepare a hot meal for our Volunteers on Saturdays.  Some
Saturdays we could have as many as 20 volunteers working.  There is a full kitchen on site.


VOLUNTEER  RECRUITING:
We need someone who can make presentations to groups about TLC, prepare ads and fliers to recruit
volunteers.  Volunteers are our second greatest need.


VOLUNTEER  SCHEDULING:
We need someone to schedule all of the volunteers.  To work with the recruiter to add new
volunteers to the list.  To make sure that we have enough volunteers on Saturday's to handle the
work load.  This job will require a lot of communications with the volunteers.
